This blog is to share the teaching and learning experience of Quranic Arabic through difference courses and workshops in different areas. The objective is to make it more enjoyable for the people who learns or teaches Arabic and also to provide some details regarding course analysis and success stories. Alhamdulillah, after 3 years of Pandamic RIS came back in person and I was invited to deliver Allah's Zoo Workshop same as previous years at RIS Convention. We organized 3 workshops for small children in two sessions on Saturday and 1 session on Sunday. All the children enjoyed it a lot, this time we included Prophet’s Stories videos in this workshop which enhanced the experience of learning for the children. All the volunteers helped a lot to keep children organized and we distributed small animals’ toys to all the children. RIS management sponsored posters. We thank them to give us opportunity to perform at this amazing convention. In Shaa Allah, we are looking forward to work together in future conventions with some other workshops

Alhamdulillah, after a bit break due to on going pandemic, we have resumed our courses from the unique course to get ready for Ramazan. Where we are learning grammar tips, frequently used verses and commonly used supplications. Alhamdulillah, around 48 people registered for the course and around 25 attended our first session today March 07, 2020. This is weekly class on every Sunday Morning at 11 AM EST. After great planning and thought, I have started a children course as there was a great demand from the parents in the area and hence I decided to start teaching children between age 10 years to 15 years. The class was limited to only 18 students to keep the quality experience for everyone. MashaAllah that was one the best experience which I have ever had. All the children were so dedicated and participating in the sessions. We used to have recitation, presentation, story time and off course some snacks for the children. Alhamdulillah, same as last year we conducted this Allah's Zoo workshop RIS Convention again. We organized four workshops for small children in two sessions and children enjoyed it a lot, this time we included Prophet’s Stories videos in this workshop which enhanced the experience of learning for the children. This year we designed our new stand up poster stand, which was amazing. All the volunteers helped a lot to keep children organized and we distributed small animals’ toys to all the children. Alhamdulillah, we had Allah's Zoo for all families at Youth Tarbiyah Conference 2019 - IFT – Scarborough http://youthtarbiyah.com/. This was first time we delivered this for Youth Tarbiyah audience and it was very successful segment of this conference. IFT Youth had done amazing job to organize this entire event on the Thanksgiving Day long weekend.

Alhamdulillah, we had Allah's Zoo for all families at Alfauz Islamic Center – Scarborough, this was first workshop which was opened for Scarborough Community, MashaAllah, we got around 35 children. For this workshop we also allowed one parent due to the space limitation. It was amazing experience and very successful family event, all my family members helped me to conduct this workshop.

Alhamdulillah, we had Allah's Zoo for G4/G5 students at IFS. In this workshop we also learnt the classification of the animals and how Allah has mentioned all those categories in the Quran beautifully. We gave gifts to all the students and plastic coated poster of the animals, birds and insects. This workshop was sponsored by Super Discount Pharmacy, Scarborough and Meesam Ashraf Real State Agent.

Alhamdulillah, we had Allah's Zoo workshop first time in an Aqiqah Party in Erin Meadows Community Centre, Mississauga. It was my friend’s daughter’s Aqiqah where we arranged this workshop to engage all the children who usually just play around in any gathering. However, in this blessed event, all the children got together to enjoy Allah’s Zoo workshop and not only children who participated but all the elders also learnt a lot from it. We distributed Allah’s Zoo poster to each family and those posters were sponsored by Meesum Ashraf, Real Estate Agent of World Class Realty Point Brokerage.

Alhamdulillah, we had Allah's Zoo for Fulltime Hifz boys at IFT. All students enjoyed it a lot and it was very unique experience for me to deliver this workshop for Hifz Students, they all were very excited. This workshop was sponsored by Nizara Fashions Scarborough and Meesum Ashraf, Real Estate Agent of World Class Realty Point Brokerage.

It was around 40 minutes workshop and around 90 students attended.

Alhamdulillah, after our first successful session for JK/SK, we had Allah's Zoo for G1/G2 students at IFS. We gave gifts to all the students and plastic coated poster of the animals, birds and insects. This workshop was sponsored by Deccan Tailor Scarborough and Nugget Pizza and Wings Scarborough.

It was around 45 minutes workshop and 110 + students attended it along with all the class teachers.

Alhamdulillah, after long break I was able to conduct an amazing workshop of Allah's Zoo at IFS Scarborough campus. Allah's Zoo is an interactive PowerPoint presentation which covers all the animals, insects and birds which are mentioned in the Holy Quran. All the students from JK/SK both grades attended this workshop which was arranged first time ever at IFS. Alhamdulillah, all the children and teachers enjoyed the workshop. We gave gifts to all the students and plastic coated poster of the animals, birds and insects. The poster was sponsored by Dr. Salim Kapadia Dental Centre, Scarborough.

It was around 45 minutes workshop and 100 + students attended it along with all the class teachers. Shaykh Yusuf Badat made concluding Dua'a and we ended the workshop with some group pictures.

After several courses on basic grammar, we have decided to launch a course based on Juz 30 as we recite the Surah from this Juz in our daily prayers. That was an amazing program where several families attended the sessions. We encouraged children in our programs so we gave away several gifts upon asking basic question. We also launched Quizzes on Surah from Juz 30 and that developed too much interest in the children to learn basic Tafseer about the Surah in the format of Questions and Answers. At the end of the completion of the course, we arranged a certificate distribution day where we conducted a Quiz between selected students and also invited Shaykh Yusuf Badat and other guests.

This course was being offered on every Friday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, around more than 50 people attended this course.

This course was designed for those who have completed our basic grammar course, we have done research on the Quran to gather those similar verses which have occured in Quran multiple times. Al-hamdulillah it was very helpful for all of us to understand basic verses of Quran.

This course was being offered on every Saturday from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, around 30 people attended this course.

Al-hamdulillah, we have started another short course for understanding Quranic Arabic from daily Salah and Quranic Conversations, this is being held at Al-Fauz Islamic Centre, Scarborough ON http://alfauz.org/. In this course we brought a new and unique concept of learning Quranic Arabic Grammar from Quranic Dialogues and from Daily Salah. We are going to cover beautiful verses of direct conversations from Surah Al-Baqarah In Shaa Allah.

This course is being offered on every Saturday from 10 AM to 12 noon, last Saturday we had winter storm, but around 28 people attended first class including youth, kids, sisters and brothers MashAllah that was wonderful experience. I will write more about this course soon.

Al-hamdulillah, we had another very successful short course at ICNA Resource Scaborough Location, this time we named our course on our newly published book i.e. AQIMIS SALAH, this book is published in two versions simple and delux. This covers word by word translation of complete SALAH in two languages UDRU and ENGLISH.

We started this course on every Friday night and we had around 10 classes where around 30 people started the course and around 20 people successfully completed the course and we decided to give them certificates of completion. Everyone in that was lover of learning Quranic Arabic and they all signed a wonderful wishing card for me, that was so nice of them.

Al-hamdulillah, Arabic In Twos Day Workshop was successfully held at Danforth Islamic Center Scarborough on by Subulasslam Academy Canada. I really enjoyed this course; we had 30 people registered for this workshop and 22 people attended the first session. Session was started around 3:10 PM and managed to cover most of the topics for Day 01.

We performed Salat-ul-Asr at 5:45 PM and started our session again to complete the session. Around 6:30 PM, we finished our day 01, I brought some Arabic books for sale on same price as I bought from Talim-ul-Islam, people purchased all the books. We started Day 02 on time as well and Al-hamdulillah, finished the session and covered most of the contents, however some of the contents were not covered. At the end of session, Br. Nazmul Huda gave short speech regarding the workshop and encouraged people to revise it, he also invited me to conduct another session. The unique thing regarding this course as all the people were from one community and belongs to Bangladesh, I learnt from words of their language. All people were so dedicated and caring. Al-hamdulillah, Arabic In A Day Workshop was successfully held at ICNA Resource Center Scarborough on Thanksgiving Day 2011 by Subulasslam Academy. I really enjoyed this class; we had 40 people registered for this one day workshop. Couple of them were under the weather as it was changing. Some people did not show up they must be busy with some other activities, but some people showed up without registration which made the total no. of attendees to 32 and couple of volunteers. The session started on time, however we missed our Qari who was scheduled for Quran Recitation, I asked someone from students to come up and performed recitation, M. Arif recited Surah-e-Ikhlaas and we started our session, we had issues with Projector and screen setting but everything was settled down in first 15 minutes. and we started the workshop with full pace. We covered Nouns and Pronouns in first session; we had break for Samosas and Tea at 11:15 AM and then resumed VERB session. We got Pizzas delivery on time from Catering King and Pizza, we started our Lunch break at 1 PM, everyone enjoyed Pizzas and had quick chat in different groups. We had Arabic books on sale, some people purchased some books.

We performed Salat-uz-Zuhr at 1:30 PM and started our session again at 1:50 PM to complete VERB and Salah session. Around 3:20 PM, When I realized people are ready to take another quick break, we enjoyed break with Bananas and Juices. We completed our word by word Salah in last session and had quick quiz program, I asked two questions and gave away one Book set of Madinah Books and one Large Pizza which was sponsored by Catering King and Pizza. At the end, one fellow from ICNA Resource Center management was there to say few words. I thanked him to provide us beautiful place for the workshop. He rewarded me with one book and said few words of appreciation. We had quick Dua and finished the workshop with Salat-ul-Zuhr Bil Jama'a. We performed some housekeeping tasks to bring center back to its original condition and went to Nugget Masjid to perform Maghrib with my helpful fellows and volunteers.

That was sunny and hot morning of Saturday July 23, 2011, I was so excited for that Ramazan Special session which was going to be held at IFT GYM. All the arrangements were completed and we were ready to leave for the class. Sir and I reached on time, we found some people were already waiting over there. Br. Salahuddin from IFT team was there to help us in videotaping and microphone arrangement. Sir Farooqi started the session on time while few brothers and sisters were already gathered in the class. Though, we were expecting more people, however the class was limited to 20 to 25 people.

Sir started with some basic grammar rules and covered Ramazan related verses from Quran and then handed over to me to cover preposition section. After that, Sir covered selected verses from Quran which also available on website at this link Click here

At the end, I invited Br. Salahuddin to say few words about the session, he expressed his great feeling of learning Quranic Arabic in last few sessions and in that day session. He thanked Sir Farooqi to conduct those sessions and invited him to pay us more visits. In the meantime, we got Samosas and juices and everyone enjoyed refreshment and also helped us to wrap up session. In short, that was good session the attendance was a little shorter than what we expected.

After having all those quick sessions in different places, upon the invitation of Br. Shakeel finally we were ready to start fast track course of Subulassalam at Islamic Foundation of Toronto. We scheduled 4 sessions from July 18 to July 21 after Salat-ul-Asr to Salat-ul-Maghrib. Around 50 brothers and sisters were already registered for the course. Sessions were arranged in Cafeteria of IFT with a divider for brothers and sisters areas. Microphone and Video camera was already setup, session was started on time and Sir Farooqi covered first few chapters of Subulassalam Text book.

We distributed free Subulassalam text books to everyone. I prepared new handouts for the class on daily basis, used to spend all day at IFT to prepare handout and arranged printouts for each sessions. I am very thankful to IFT Administration especially Br. Shakeel who really helped us to arrange those sessions and his cooperation was always there in all arrangements.

Last session was arranged in IFT GYM, we distributed Salah booklet in that session and Sir explained word by word Salah and in this way we completed our 4 days fast track courses. At the end, feedback form was distributed, we received excellent feedback for the course and as well as for the way Sir delivered the sessions. Everyone enjoyed and appreciated that initiative of Arabic Courses at IFT. Total 47 brothers and around 25 sisters were registered for that course and on average 50 students attended all 4 sessions. Some brothers arranged refreshment for the class which was so nice of them.

This was a great day of July 10th 2011, when my respected teacher Prof. Habib Ashraf Farooqi was arriving to Toronto. The flight came on time and after long wait, I saw Sir was walking out from the arrival area as usual very fresh and smiling. I welcomed Sir with my Son and then we walked towards parking. We reached home and enjoyed wonderful lunch, Sir shared some gift with us and then we waited for Maghrib.

That was Sunday so I had a class scheduled at IFT after Salat-ul-Maghrib, I did not cancel that class because I wanted to introduce everyone to Sir. After Maghrib, we gathered in class area and un-expectedly there were more people in that class, after quick introduction, I requested Sir to conduct the class and then everyone realized why I talk about Sir all the time, usually we have only 15 to 20 minutes class, in that class, nobody was showing time to me and they all were really into the class. From that quick and successful introduction we decided to arrange another Subulassalam Salah session at my buildings Party room.

We arranged dinner from Catering King and Pizza and invited so many people on Wednesday July 13 evening for introductory session, around 40 people attended that session and at the end of the session; respected guest from IFT invited Sir Farooqi to conduct short course of Subulassalam at IFT. We also arranged two similar sessions on Sunday July 17, 2011 at ICNA Resources center Scarborough in the morning around 12 noon to 1:30 PM and evening session at ICNA Resource center Thorncliffe Park Drive. Both sessions were very successful and we got some students registered for the 4 days sessions at IFT which was already scheduled in the following week after invitation from IFT.

In short, we had a very successful time with respected Sir Farooqi during his visit; you can read more about other sessions in blog above this one.

By the Grace of Allah, Arabic class for youth was taught by Essa Mughal. This class was part of Seerah Sunday School at ICNA Resource Center Thorncliffe Park Drive.

After unique and successful experience of Arabic In A Day conference, I was very much interested to launch this type of conference in different areas of GTA. In the meantime, I was approached by a gentleman from ISM committee, they wanted to arrange a short course at ISM, we discussed different options and decided to conduct a one month short course in December 2009. I decided Sunday morning to conduct 4 sessions of 3 hours each. ISM announced the course and in no time I got around 30 registrations for the course.

I also met with all members of ISM Shuraa Committee and answered some of their questions and concerns. Al-hamdulillah, everything was set and when before we started first session, there were already around 90 registrations for that course. ISM management made all the arrangements very well, projector, computer, whiteboard etc. were already setup in the basement area of ISM and we launched the course on December 09, 2009. In first day, there were around 80 people who attended the class.

In those 4 sessions, we decided to cover some advance topic of Arabic Grammar like derived forms of VERB, List of Particles, signs and impact of Particles. During preparation of the class presentation and handout, we also prepared some very nice slides and handouts to summarize Tenses, signs of Verbs, Signs of Particles, and Noun Cheat sheet. In each session, we distributed handouts and class notes. In session we also covered word by word Salah and last 10 Surah of Juz 30. ISM management also arranged refreshment with tea and juices for each session.

In Last session, at the end there was certificate distribution ceremony; certificate of completion was given to 60 people who attended the most sessions. One member of Shura committee was also invited to say few words. I was rewarded with a wonderful book (Gham Na Karen, Don’t be Sad or LA TAHZAN), gift pack, flowers and also a certificate of teaching that course. Many people took pictures of the ceremony and appreciated the efforts a lot. We also got very excellent feedback and nice suggestions in the feedback form.

By the Grace of Allah, that Arabic In A Month Subulasslam Short course was a great success. That was first official course which was held at any Islamic Organization in Toronto by SAC. We are very thankful to ISM Management who facilitated that course in the organization for the benefits of the community.

From my previous courses and experience of teaching, I realized that people usually don’t want to make commitment for longer course and if you arrange longer course the drop off ratio is very high. Due to this reason, I had been thinking to gather the most important grammar rules in handouts to cover in few hours. That triggered the idea of conducting Arabic In A Day Workshop.

The idea was to conduct one day workshop where people can learn most important and fundamental Quranic Arabic Grammar rules and then apply them to understand word by word translation of Daily Salah. Since I already have many people who were waiting for any upcoming course. I shared the idea with couple of people in the circle and got some encouragement and by the Grace of Allah, the workshop was announced to be held on Thanksgiving Day 2009 at ICNA Resource Center in Thorncliffe Park Drive.

We only announced the course in TPD area with limited no. of seats i.e. 25 and people started registering for the workshop so quickly, we got around 40 registrants before the workshop day. We decided $10.00 fee to cover the printing, lunch and refreshment, SAC contributed happily the shortfall at the end. At the end, around 30 people attended the workshop including some young volunteers. We had a very busy and productive day and the feedback was excellent from the class. Some nice suggestions were also given by students to improve the session.

That experience also gave me a lot of courage to promote Quranic Arabic Learning workshop in different areas of GTA.

I also learnt Tajweed during my studies and appeared in Exam and successfully passed written and oral exam of Tajweed-ul-Quran. When I started teaching Arabic Grammar, I got so many inquiries regarding Quran Reading and Tajweed classes. Hence we decided to arrange a short course in which we can cover basic Tajweed rules and also mention some of the common mistakes and correct them.

We scheduled 12 weekly classes in June – August 2009 and started distributing flyers and making announcements in different groups e.g. TPDMuslims yahoo group as the course would be conducted at ICNA Resource Center Thorncliffe Park Drive. We really got great response for that course and around 20 people were registered from all age group.

We distributed quick handouts to explain grammar rules and covered them in each class and also had everyone recite some of the Quranic Verses. We also used to play recitation of Imam-e-Kaba or any good reciter during the class to give chance to people to make corrections by listening that as well.

In short, that course was a great success and I got so many nice people in that course.

Year 2008 was the most successful year in terms of teaching different courses, the teaching season which was started in 2007 was continued without any break and there was a time when I was teaching two courses. As soon as I completed Online Course, I announced 4 month short course to cover Understand Quran Basic Course and some additional rules gathered by me.

We got around 28 registrations for the course, we arranged Certificates for the previous successful graduates from Understand Quran Academy Canada and distributed in 1st session of that short course. That was very exciting day for everyone and they expressed their feeling while receiving certificate. The new student felt really encouraged and they were very energetic to move on with that short course.

Why I called it the “Most Successful Experience”, because of few unique things, first of all the class was full of enthusiasm and sincere, they were very punctual. We conducted quick quiz sessions in the class also Monthly quizzes to complete at home, at the end we announced best student of the class who were most regular and also completed quiz with flying colors, and we also distributed some gifts. All these interactive things kept the momentum alive till the last session and the drop off ratio was too low.

In those days, I also used to work with the team of Understand Quran Academy in GTA and hence I got an opportunity to conduct a course online. The team of www.ArabicInEnglish.com conducts different level courses of Arabic Grammar and Reading. I was assigned a task to teach Short Course of Understand Quran Academy.

That was my first of teaching any course online, I was excited. We got around 27 registrations for that course; however average 15 to 20 attended all sessions. I learnt a lot from teaching online, the only thing which I felt it is somehow hard to concentrate on teaching as you don’t see people expression if they are following you. However, we completed all the sessions successfully. But, I decided to focus on teaching in person courses in my area instead of teaching online. I found teaching online was difficult and required great energy.

However, I am thankful to Allah, who gave me a chance to teach a course online and students from all over the world attended the sessions. Al-hamdulillah !!

This was the start was any official course in Canada by Subulassalam. At that time, I worked with Understand Quran Academy and started a basic course of Understand Quran in of the apartment of 65 Thorncliffe Park Drive. Then I had to left Toronto for good for 6 months.

I came back and resumed the fresh classes at another old location of ICNA Resource Center in TPD. Then we moved the classes in apartment of 47 Thorncliffe Park Drive. We covered almost complete text book of Understand Quran basic course and then covered some other advance topics.

Around 10 people were very regular in this course and they attended all classes in around 10 months. Then, we decided to start a new batch. We distributed certificates of completion from Understand Quran Academy Canada; to those 10 individuals who completed those classes. You can more about classes after that course in blog above.
